Your information, in plain English
Privacy Policy
We collect only what we need to run your hosting. We never sell your information. Here’s exactly what we do with it.
We never sell or rent your personal information. Ever.
1. Who we are
OMEE Digital is responsible for the personal information described here. Our Privacy Officer can be reached at [email protected] (subject: “Privacy”).
This policy follows Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019.
2. What we collect
- Account details: your name, business name, email, phone and address.
- Billing: what you bought and paid for. M-Pesa and card payments are handled by our payment providers. We never see or store full card numbers or M-Pesa PINs.
- Support: what you tell us on WhatsApp, by email or in a ticket.
- Technical data: your IP address, browser and server logs, used to run the service and keep it secure.
- Domain details: the owner details that registries require for each domain.
3. When you visit our website
- Cookies: our website only uses what it needs to work.
- No advertising cookies. If we ever add analytics or ads, we’ll ask for your consent first.
4. Why we use it
- To set up and run your hosting, domains and email.
- To bill you and send receipts and renewal reminders.
- To answer you when you contact us.
- To keep our servers and customers safe from fraud and abuse.
- To meet legal duties, such as tax records.
- For news and offers, but only if you said yes. You can unsubscribe at any time.
6. Where it’s kept
Our servers are run by a specialist data centre partner outside Kenya. When your information leaves Kenya, we use contracts and safeguards to protect it, as the Data Protection Act requires.
7. How long we keep it
- Account and billing records: while you’re a customer, then 5 years, because Kenya’s Tax Procedures Act requires it.
- Support messages: 3 years.
- Your website files and email: deleted 14 days after your service ends.
- Backups: roll off automatically, usually within 7 to 30 days.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the information we hold about you,
- correct it,
- delete it (except records the law says we must keep),
- send you a copy in a common format,
- stop using it for marketing, or withdraw your consent.
Email [email protected] with the subject “Privacy”. We’ll reply within 30 days. We’ll never treat you differently for asking.
You can also complain to Kenya’s Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC).
9. How we protect it
We use encrypted connections, access controls, two-step login for staff, firewalls and regular updates. If a breach puts you at risk, we’ll tell you and the right regulator as the law requires.
10. Children
Our services are for adults and businesses. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make an important change, we’ll email you before it takes effect and update the date at the top of this page.
12. Contact
